Chapter 10: Doing It Right

~ Khalil ~

“Remember when we last said Tamiko Johnson wasn't doing anything about Cassandra Jones kissing up on her man? Well last night, she certainly did something about it. Tamiko attac-”

One click and the gossip news outlet was off.

This was all because of her.

“You don't do shit like that in public, Tam!”

“That bitch deserved it. Tell her to holla at me if she wants some more.”

Who the hell had I married?

“Tamiko, you attacked her! In public, for everyone to see!” I shouted loudly, raising my hands up in the air with anger.

“Like I said before, tell the bitch to call me if she wants some more,” Tamiko retorted.

“Tamiko there was no need for the hair pulling though.”

“There was every need! You're lucky I didn't pull her cheap weave out,”she snapped. Who was this crazy, beautiful woman that I had married?

She had publicly humiliated me in front of all my friends, and here she was sitting down comfortably and not really giving a shit about what she had done. There was no need for her to put her hands on her Cassandra. The backchat from Maribel yesterday was bad enough, but Tam putting her hands on Cassie had just blown the situation even bigger than it needed to be.

To make matters worse,Cassie had been blowing my phone up all day, talking about how she needed to see me and we needed to talk. I didn't want to speak to her because I wasn't really sure what to say. I had already apologized for Tam's behavior last night, but I didn't really have anything more to say to her face.

There was nothing I could say to try and resolve the issue. What had been done was way gone, but still biting at me. The more I looked at her laying down on our bed while typing away on her laptop, the more angry I became. Why was she being so difficult about this whole situation? Didn't she understand that I was doing this all for her? For us?

I decided that the best thing for me to do would be to play some ball in our backyard and wait for my baby girls to come home from ballet. They were the only ones who could cheer me up now.

“Daddy, why aren't you and Mommy talking?” Ashley questioned me gently, while sitting on my lap.

“We are talkin',” I lied quietly.

Sitting right next to me on the mocha couch, Rhea threw me an I know you lying face, and all I could do was smirk at her.

“We are talkin', sweethearts,” I repeated more confidently, not wanting them to worry. “We're just giving each other a bit of space.”

“But why Daddy? Did you do something wrong to her?” Ashley questioned curiously, staring hard into my eyes.

“I may have upset mommy a bit...but I promise you we're okay. We just need a bit of space from each other for now.”

How could I explain this situation to my girls? Would they even understand why
